According to a report from CNN, Emhoff voiced his concerns during a speech at the Bet Tzedek 2025 Annual Dinner Gala in Los Angeles. The event, attended by major legal figures and political insiders, became the unlikely stage for a clash over constitutional authority and legal ethics.


Emhoff Wanted a Fight — But the Firm Said No

Sources familiar with the matter claim Emhoff was eager to push back against what he perceived as an unconstitutional executive order from President Trump. Emhoff allegedly told the crowd he offered to legally challenge the order, but that his firm decided not to proceed.

That decision didn’t sit well with Emhoff. The former entertainment attorney, now thrust into the heart of legal politics, reportedly criticized Willkie Farr & Gallagher for what he saw as bowing to political pressure.


Trump Strikes Major Legal Deal with Elite Law Firm

Just days earlier, President Trump announced that Willkie Farr & Gallagher had reached an agreement with the White House. The firm committed to:

  • $100 million in pro bono legal work supporting Trump administration initiatives.
  • No more DEI mandates in hiring—focusing instead on experience, skill, and professional integrity.
  • A firm policy of non-discrimination based on political affiliation—ensuring fair legal representation for all Americans.

In a statement, the White House praised the firm’s proactive move:

“Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP took the initiative to contact President Trump and his administration, pledging firm support for efforts to dismantle the political weaponization of both the justice system and the legal field.”

This marks the third major law firm to join Trump’s mission to restore balance and trust in the American legal system. Previous partnerships include:

  • Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom
  • Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison (which pledged $40 million in services)

Targeting the Weaponization of the Legal System

President Trump has made it clear: the days of politically biased lawfare are over.

His administration has taken strong action against law firms involved in past partisan investigations, especially those connected to the Russia hoax and post-election controversies. This includes firms that represented plaintiffs in lawsuits targeting Trump allies.

In fact, Willkie Farr & Gallagher previously defended two Georgia election employees who sued Rudy Giuliani over claims made during the 2020 election—raising eyebrows now that the firm is working directly with the Trump administration.
