Fox News Orders Trump To Do What?

A well-known business leader and Fox Business host is urging President Donald Trump to speak directly to the American people about the economy and explain what lies ahead.

During a Saturday appearance on The Big Weekend Show, entrepreneur and television personality Marcus Lemonis said Americans want a clear and honest message about the nation’s economic challenges — along with a detailed plan to address them.

Lemonis said the current economic situation didn’t develop overnight and argued that many of the pressures Americans are feeling today stem from policies put in place during the Biden administration.

However, he said voters are now focused on one question above all else: What comes next?

Business Leader Calls For Direct Communication

Lemonis told the panel that if he were advising President Trump, he would recommend speaking plainly to Americans about the economy.

“What I would want the president to do is acknowledge that the economy isn’t quite where we want it to be,” Lemonis said. “A lot of that comes from the hangover of policies from the Biden administration. But rather than pointing fingers, I think people want solutions.”

According to Lemonis, Americans appreciate transparency from leaders — especially during times of economic uncertainty.

He said voters want to hear an honest assessment of the situation, combined with a clear roadmap for improvement.

Mortgage Rates and Housing Concerns

One of the biggest concerns Lemonis pointed to is the housing market.

Mortgage rates are currently hovering around 6.3 percent, a level that continues to strain homebuyers and sellers alike.

Lemonis warned that higher borrowing costs could create what he described as “housing gridlock.”

In that scenario, homeowners may hesitate to sell because they would lose their current low mortgage rates, while potential buyers struggle to afford higher monthly payments.

“You’re going to see people searching for liquidity in the housing market and not finding it,” Lemonis said.

That kind of slowdown, he explained, can ripple throughout the broader economy.

Rising Costs Continue To Pressure Families

Lemonis also noted that Americans are dealing with a mix of economic challenges at the same time.

Among the pressures he mentioned:

  • Rising fuel prices, which increase transportation and shipping costs
  • Ongoing concerns about job losses tied to artificial intelligence
  • Higher everyday expenses for households

When energy prices rise, Lemonis explained, those increases often spread through the entire economy — affecting everything from groceries to manufacturing costs.

For many families, that creates a sense that the cost of living is climbing faster than their incomes.

GOP Urged To Focus On Real Solutions

Lemonis said the Republican Party should focus its messaging on practical solutions instead of overly optimistic claims.

“Our party needs to deliver a solution-oriented message,” he said. “People want to know what the plan is.”

He emphasized that Americans are looking for leadership that acknowledges challenges while offering realistic answers.

According to Lemonis, voters respond better to honest communication than to exaggerated claims about how strong the economy is.

“Things aren’t wonderful right now for a lot of people,” he said.

Suggestion: A National Address From Trump

Lemonis also suggested that President Trump could consider delivering a major national address explaining the economic situation.

Such a speech could resemble a State of the Union–style message, he said, where the president speaks directly to Americans about both short-term challenges and long-term plans.

In that address, Lemonis believes Trump could explain that while some economic pain may be temporary, the administration is making difficult decisions aimed at improving conditions over time.

He said the most important element would be building trust with voters.

“People want to know how long this is going to last,” Lemonis said. “They want honesty.”

Americans Also Watching Global Events

Economic concerns are also tied to global developments, Lemonis added.

With tensions rising overseas, many Americans are watching closely to see how international conflicts might affect the U.S. economy, energy prices, and national security.

Some voters are also wondering whether global tensions could eventually lead to deeper American military involvement abroad.

Those questions, Lemonis said, make clear communication from national leaders even more important.

A Business Perspective

Lemonis brings a unique perspective to the discussion.

He serves as the CEO of Bed Bath & Beyond and is widely known as the host of the Fox Business show The Fixer, where he works with struggling companies to help them rebuild and grow.

From his experience in business, Lemonis says successful leaders typically follow the same formula: acknowledge problems, explain the strategy, and outline a clear path forward.

For many Americans navigating today’s economic uncertainty, that kind of leadership is exactly what they are hoping to hear.
