Biden’s Son Derails His 2024 Run?

Hunter Biden’s forthcoming deposition before House GOP lawmakers is anticipated to be a significant development in the prolonged investigation surrounding the controversial son of President Joe Biden, according to a Democrat. The deposition is scheduled for February 28, as announced by Republican Representatives James Comer and Jim Jordan, chairmen of the Oversight Committee and Judiciary Panel, respectively. This comes after Hunter Biden, dismissing the GOP investigation as “baseless,” exited a chaotic House Oversight Committee hearing last week, where the GOP-led committees had sought to hold him in contempt for defying a congressional subpoena.

Representative Dan Goldman, a Democrat from New York, expressed optimism that Hunter’s testimony would dispel what he considers a baseless impeachment investigation. Hunter’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, criticized GOP tactics as driven by “improper partisan motives” and emphasized the willingness to provide relevant information.

A source familiar with discussions between committee staff and Hunter’s attorneys revealed that Hunter sought to provide the desired facts but expressed concerns about Republicans cherry-picking closed-door sessions. The decision to appear at a public hearing was a response to these concerns.

Since the House GOP assumed the majority after the 2022 midterm elections, the focus has heavily centered on Hunter Biden’s alleged controversial financial dealings, particularly involving overseas transactions. Republicans have attempted to link these transactions to President Biden, even authorizing an impeachment inquiry in December.

As the investigation continues, the upcoming closed-door deposition is expected to address Hunter Biden’s alleged illegal activities. However, political analysts remain skeptical about the impact of Hunter’s testimony, with Patricia Crouse suggesting that Republicans might struggle to establish a link between Hunter’s actions and the president.

The House Oversight Committee also disclosed that Hollywood lawyer and Democratic donor Kevin Morris provided testimony, claiming to have loaned Hunter at least $5 million to settle tax debt and allegedly receiving access to the White House in return. The deposition is poised to be a pivotal moment in the ongoing scrutiny surrounding Hunter Biden’s financial dealings and their potential implications on the Biden administration.

All these issues whether they play out beneficial or detrimental to Hunter Biden make a major impact on President Biden’s 2024 re-election.
