Biden Ditches Stranded Americans

The lack of a clear strategy from the Biden administration to address the escalating gang conflicts and turmoil in Haiti has drawn criticism, particularly as Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida took proactive measures to evacuate citizens from the troubled nation. Representative Carlos Gimenez expressed his concerns in an interview with Newsmax, highlighting the absence of a coordinated effort from the White House to tackle the crisis.

Gimenez commended Governor DeSantis for prioritizing the safety of Floridians by arranging a rescue flight to Haiti and deploying over a hundred officers to bolster border security. He emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting the potential risks associated with a large influx of Haitian migrants attempting to enter Florida, especially considering the limitations faced by agencies like the Coast Guard in handling such scenarios.

Despite DeSantis’ efforts managing to evacuate a small number of individuals, Gimenez underscored the challenges posed by the volatile conditions in Haiti, with closed ports, violence, and threats from criminal groups complicating evacuation efforts.

The congressman criticized the Biden administration for what he perceived as a lack of proactive measures to address the deteriorating situation in Haiti, which has been in decline since the assassination of its president three years ago. He accused the administration of failing to anticipate and adequately prepare for such a crisis, echoing sentiments of insufficient planning.

Gimenez also lambasted the handling of the southern border crisis, attributing it to deliberate actions by President Biden. He argued that the administration’s policies had exacerbated the situation, leading to overwhelming pressure on border patrol agencies. He suggested that meaningful action to address the crisis would only be taken if it became politically expedient for the president.

In summary, Representative Gimenez’s remarks underscored the need for a coherent and proactive approach from the Biden administration to address both the crisis in Haiti and the challenges at the southern border, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the safety and security of American citizens.
