President Donald Trump’s bold move to deploy the National Guard to California is drawing praise from conservatives who see it as a necessary step to restore law and order amid growing chaos.
Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) made it clear on Sunday that he believes President Trump’s actions are already making a difference — and that further military escalation is unnecessary.
“The National Guard worked here in Wisconsin. I’m confident it will work in California too,” Johnson said during an interview on CNN’s State of the Union. “Marines won’t be needed if leadership in California steps up and gets serious about ending the violence.”
🔥 Trump Deploys 2,000 Troops to Fight Violence in California
The president ordered 2,000 National Guard troops into Los Angeles over the weekend after protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) turned violent. According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, “violent mobs” targeted federal agents conducting lawful deportation efforts.
“The National Guard—and if necessary, the Marines—stand with ICE,” declared Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Sunday morning via the X platform.
🇺🇸 Johnson: Local Leaders Are Failing to Protect Federal Agents
Sen. Johnson slammed California’s leadership for refusing to act, accusing officials of abandoning their duty to protect both the public and federal law enforcement.
“This is about protecting brave federal officers doing a dangerous job. There’s no excuse for this kind of lawless behavior,” he said. “What’s missing in California is strong leadership willing to stand up for law and order.”
👀 Bernie Sanders Attacks Trump Over National Guard Deployment
While President Trump’s actions are being praised by conservatives nationwide, far-left Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) lashed out, claiming Trump is acting outside the Constitution.
“He thinks he can do whatever he wants,” Sanders complained on State of the Union. “The governor didn’t even request the National Guard.”
But polling shows a different story: Americans—especially older voters—continue to support Trump’s law-and-order approach, especially when liberal leaders refuse to act.
