For the first time in more than 50 years, the immigrant population inside the United States is shrinking—and it’s happening because President Donald J. Trump kept his word on immigration.
Trump Delivers Where Biden Failed
In 2023, America hit a record 14 million illegal immigrants, fueled by weak Biden policies. But now, under Trump’s return to the White House, the trend has reversed.
Pew Research Center data shows that the U.S. immigrant population fell from about 53.3 million in January 2025 to 51.9 million by June — a sharp drop of more than 1.4 million in only a few months.
This is the first real decline since the 1960s, and it directly reflects Trump’s tough border security, mass deportations, and America-first policies.
DHS Confirms Millions Are Leaving
The Department of Homeland Security reports 1.6 million illegal immigrants have already left the U.S. since January. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem called the change “massive,” stressing that it means:
- Safer streets for American families
- Billions saved in taxpayer dollars
- Less strain on hospitals and schools
- Better wages and jobs for American workers
“This is exactly what voters demanded,” Noem said.
Trump’s 181 Executive Orders Changed Everything
Trump wasted no time. In his first 100 days back, he signed 181 executive actions, effectively shutting down asylum abuse, empowering ICE to raid worksites, and ordering mass deportations.
Even Pew researchers admit the timing isn’t random. “There’s undoubtedly some relationship between Trump’s policies and the drop,” senior demographer Jeff Passel said.
Illegal Labor Force Hit Hard
For decades, industries like construction, farming, and hospitality relied on cheap illegal labor. But now, under Trump, immigrant participation in the U.S. workforce has fallen from 20% to 19% in six months—a drop of more than 750,000 workers.
Trump has made clear: “American jobs belong to American citizens first.”
Where They Lived Before the Crackdown
The highest illegal immigrant populations remain in:
- California: 2.3 million
- Texas: 2.1 million
- Florida: 1.6 million
But unlike before, growth has stalled—and in many states, reversed—as Trump’s crackdown continues.
The Bottom Line: Trump Is Winning the Immigration War
For decades, Democrats insisted mass immigration was “inevitable.” But Trump is proving that strong leadership can shrink the illegal immigrant population and restore America’s sovereignty.
The Trump administration is delivering:
✔ Safer communities
✔ Lower costs for taxpayers
✔ More jobs for U.S. citizens
✔ A stronger, more secure America
And this is only the beginning.
