Is this political persecution—or justice finally catching up with a powerful Democrat?
New York Attorney General Letitia James is once again playing the victim card—this time claiming she’s being followed and harassed, supposedly under orders from President Donald Trump. Her emotional outburst came just days before bombshell reports revealed that the Department of Justice has opened a criminal investigation into mortgage fraud allegations tied to James’ real estate dealings.
Speaking on May 3 at a rally hosted by Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network in Harlem, James told supporters that unknown individuals have been surveilling her private home.
“They’ve got individuals coming to my house, standing outside, taking pictures and streaming them on social media—while I was in church,” she said, in a speech dripping with political theater.
James lashed out, calling the situation “nothing more than a revenge tour,” and blamed President Trump personally—citing the $454 million civil judgment she won against him earlier this year. That case is still being appealed.
But what she failed to mention is far more revealing.
According to multiple reports, the Trump-era Department of Justice has launched a formal criminal probe into James’ mortgage history, based on serious allegations she lied on loan applications. The investigation was requested by Federal Housing Finance Agency Director William Pulte, a Trump appointee, who believes James falsified information to secure favorable mortgage terms on two properties.
Key Allegations Against Letitia James:
- Misrepresented the number of units in her Brooklyn home
- Falsely claimed a Norfolk, Virginia property as her primary residence
- Possibly violated federal mortgage lending laws
James’ attorney, Abbe David Lowell, slammed the accusations as “baseless” and politically motivated. But critics argue that this is the same Letitia James who campaigned on targeting Donald Trump, raising questions about her own ethical standards.
“This looks like the political retribution Trump warned about,” Lowell said.
Still, some on the left are openly admitting that James is mounting not just a legal defense—but a political one. Veteran Democrat strategist Hank Sheinkopf said James is “trying to gin up her base” ahead of what could become a massive legal showdown.
Neither the DOJ nor the White House has commented publicly on the case.
Why This Matters:
This story isn’t just about one politician. It’s about accountability, double standards, and the growing belief among many Americans that justice is no longer blind—especially when it comes to liberal elites.
As Letitia James paints herself as a victim, millions are asking the real question:
Is she afraid because she’s innocent—or because she finally got caught?
