In a major escalation against lawless sanctuary cities, President Donald Trump’s Justice Department has filed a high-stakes federal lawsuit against Los Angeles, accusing the Democrat-run city of obstructing federal immigration enforcement and violating the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause.
Trump Administration Targets Illegal Immigration Shield Laws
The lawsuit, filed in California’s Central District Court, claims Los Angeles is actively working against federal law by protecting illegal immigrants from deportation. The Department of Justice is demanding an immediate end to the city’s sanctuary policies that block immigration officers from doing their jobs.
According to the DOJ, city officials have created legal roadblocks that:
- Deny immigration officers access to detainees
- Ban city contractors from cooperating with federal enforcement
- Prioritize illegal aliens over U.S. citizens and national security
“The Supremacy Clause prohibits states and cities from discriminating against the federal government,” the DOJ’s filing declares. “Los Angeles is doing exactly that, and the courts must put a stop to it.”
Pam Bondi: Los Angeles Is Fueling Chaos and Undermining Law Enforcement
Attorney General Pam Bondi didn’t mince words. In an interview with Fox News, she said Los Angeles’ far-left policies are to blame for rising violence and attacks on law enforcement.
“When cities protect illegal aliens instead of working with ICE and Border Patrol, they endanger every law-abiding American,” Bondi said. “This defiance of federal law ends under President Trump.”
The DOJ notes the lawsuit follows a wave of violent protests in Los Angeles, triggered by the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration. The riots caused nearly $20 million in damages—another burden for American taxpayers.
Conservative Backlash Against Open-Borders Agenda
President Trump has long promised to restore law and order, secure the U.S. border, and dismantle the open-borders policies embraced by the radical left. His administration’s lawsuit signals a return to common-sense immigration enforcement—one that puts American citizens first.
The legal case is already energizing conservatives nationwide who are demanding accountability from Democrat-led cities that choose political correctness over public safety.
