President Donald Trump is once again fighting to protect American taxpayers. But this time, it’s not just Democrats standing in his way — it’s a so-called Republican.
Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), chair of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee, openly attacked Trump’s latest effort to claw back $4.9 billion in foreign aid giveaways. Instead of standing with the President and the American people, Collins accused Trump of trying to “undermine the law” and defended the same bloated spending that has bankrupted Washington for decades.
Collins Sides With Democrats
Collins issued a statement blasting the move, claiming it violates the Impoundment Control Act and insisting that cuts should only come through “bipartisan negotiations.” In Washington speak, that usually means spending more, not less.
Her remarks mirror Democrat talking points, protecting billions of dollars earmarked for the State Department and USAID — funds that would be funneled overseas while millions of seniors and working families here at home struggle with inflation, high taxes, and debt.
Trump Puts America First
The Trump administration, however, says the maneuver — called a “pocket rescission” — is perfectly legal. Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought reminded Americans that Trump was elected to cut waste, balance the budget, and protect taxpayers.
Just this summer, Trump successfully pulled back nearly $9 billion in wasteful spending, proving that bold leadership can stop Washington’s addiction to foreign handouts and liberal pet projects.
Swamp Republicans Exposed
Trump supporters say Collins’s attack shows exactly why the D.C. swamp is so hard to drain. While Trump delivers on his promises, establishment Republicans team up with Democrats to block America First policies.
At a time when Americans are demanding leaders who stand up for our country instead of foreign governments, Collins’s move is being blasted as a betrayal.
The message is clear: President Trump is fighting for taxpayers. The establishment — both Democrat and Republican — is fighting to protect itself.
