Kamala Tries To Frame Trump

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign has recently criticized former President Donald Trump in the wake of the latest disheartening jobs report, despite Trump having left office nearly four years ago.

James Singer, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign, claimed, “Donald Trump’s presidency was marked by economic failures that cost millions of jobs and pushed us to the edge of a recession.” He further argued that Trump’s proposed Project 2025 agenda would be detrimental, potentially harming the middle class, increasing taxes on working families, and jeopardizing crucial programs like Social Security and Medicare, all while benefiting wealthy donors.

Singer continued, “While we have made strides, Vice President Harris is committed to further reducing costs for families.” He emphasized that Harris intends to prioritize the strengthening of the middle class, focusing on tackling corporate greed, banning hidden fees, and imposing limits on excessive rent hikes and prescription drug prices.

This criticism comes as the U.S. job market showed significant weakness in July. The Labor Department reported that the economy added only 114,000 jobs in July, falling short of the 175,000 job gain forecasted by economists. Additionally, the unemployment rate unexpectedly rose to 4.3%, the highest level since October 2021.

The report has intensified concerns about a potential economic downturn, exacerbated by persistent inflation and high interest rates. Stock futures took a hit, with Dow futures dropping over 500 points, as investors grew anxious about a looming recession. The Federal Reserve, which had recently maintained interest rates at a 23-year high, hinted at possible rate cuts as early as September.

Job creation in July was led by the healthcare sector, which added 55,000 positions. Other sectors such as construction (25,000 jobs), government (17,000 jobs), and transportation and warehousing (14,000 jobs) also showed growth. However, there were losses in information (20,000 jobs) and financial activities (4,000 jobs).

The report also included downward revisions for previous months, with June’s job gains adjusted to 179,000 from an earlier estimate of 206,000 and May’s figures revised to 216,000 from 233,000.

In response, the Trump campaign has pointed fingers at the Biden-Harris administration. Karoline Leavitt, National Press Secretary for the Trump campaign, stated, “Kamala Harris has proudly supported Joe Biden’s economic policies, which have fueled inflation and hurt American families. Despite rising costs and increasing unemployment, she continues to defend these failed strategies.”

Leavitt criticized Harris for appearing indifferent to the struggles of ordinary Americans, highlighting the increasing unaffordability of basic necessities like food, gas, and housing.
