Biden Attacks Trump

Former President Joe Biden on Tuesday criticized the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement efforts, using ongoing unrest in Minnesota to launch a broad political attack on federal authorities.

In a statement posted on social media, Biden praised protesters who have gathered in Minneapolis in response to two recent fatal encounters involving federal immigration officers. He argued that the incidents reflect what he described as a breakdown in constitutional protections and civil liberties.

“What we have seen in Minneapolis over the past several weeks raises serious concerns about the direction of our country,” Biden wrote. He claimed the United States should not tolerate excessive force, constitutional violations, or fear within American communities.

Biden also commended Minnesota residents for organizing demonstrations and demanding answers from the federal government, portraying their actions as a form of civic engagement and accountability.

“Minnesotans have reminded the nation of our shared values,” Biden continued, accusing the current administration of creating unnecessary division. He warned that no president, including Donald Trump, can permanently undermine America if citizens remain engaged and vocal.

Calls for Investigations Into Fatal Shootings

Biden specifically called for what he described as “full, fair, and transparent investigations” into the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

Good was killed earlier this month during a confrontation involving an officer from Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Federal officials stated that Good attempted to strike the officer with her vehicle, a claim that has been disputed by activists and family members and has fueled protests across the region.

Pretti died over the weekend following a shooting involving U.S. Border Patrol agents. Authorities initially said Pretti approached officers with a handgun. However, video circulating online appears to show a cellphone in his hand, prompting renewed calls for independent review.

“Jill and I are keeping the families of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in our prayers,” Biden said, referring to former first lady Jill Biden.

Political Fallout and Bipartisan Scrutiny

Biden’s comments follow similar remarks from former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama, who described Pretti’s death as a “wake-up call” regarding what they see as threats to America’s core values.

The incidents have drawn attention from lawmakers in both parties. Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) warned that the credibility of Department of Homeland Security and ICE is at stake if investigations are not handled transparently.

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) cautioned against rushing to judgment, saying that prematurely closing inquiries would undermine public trust and do a disservice to President Trump’s administration.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that DHS and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are reviewing the Pretti shooting, while U.S. Customs and Border Protection has opened an internal investigation.

Growing Political Divide

The situation in Minnesota has become the latest flashpoint in the national debate over immigration enforcement, federal authority, and constitutional rights. Democrats have increasingly used the incidents to criticize President Trump’s policies, while supporters of the administration argue that law enforcement officers must be allowed to carry out their duties without political interference.

As investigations continue, the controversy underscores how immigration and public safety remain central issues heading into the next phase of the Trump presidency.
