Trump Putting Elderly Americans At Risk?

Immigration Enforcement Strengthens America’s Future

President Donald Trump’s bold crackdown on illegal immigration is once again putting American security first. Yet some critics claim it could deepen the existing crisis in America’s caregiving system, already struggling to keep pace with a rapidly aging population.

As part of his renewed commitment to law and order, President Trump has pledged to remove millions of undocumented migrants. While some argue this move impacts industries like home health care and nursing homes, the truth remains: a nation cannot thrive without secure borders.

According to the nonpartisan KFF, immigrants make up 28% of the nursing home workforce and 32% of the home care workforce. But that doesn’t mean America should accept broken laws to solve workforce challenges.

Caregiver Shortage: Crisis or Opportunity?

Union leaders aligned with the far-left, like Rocío Sáenz of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), warn of worker shortages. They blame immigration enforcement for problems they helped create by promoting open borders and cheap labor.

Meanwhile, Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin made it clear: “If people want to serve America’s seniors, they must come here legally.” Under President Trump, the days of allowing unvetted individuals—some with criminal records—to enter caregiving fields are over.

The example of Alfredo Orellana, a green card holder with a history of drug distribution and assault charges, is a chilling reminder of why immigration laws must be strictly enforced.

Illegal Labor Dependence: A Broken System

Many so-called “experts” argue that without illegal immigration, caregiving costs will rise and options will shrink. But real conservatives know the truth: employers have relied too heavily on cheap, exploitable labor instead of offering competitive wages to American workers.

Eric Ruark of NumbersUSA said it best: “There is no real labor shortage. There is a shortage of employers willing to pay Americans what they’re worth.”

Without mass illegal immigration, wages rise, jobs open up for citizens, and dignity returns to the American workforce. Jason Richwine of the Center for Immigration Studies adds, “Labor markets always adjust—and Americans step up when given the chance.”

Securing Our Seniors’ Future

Clif Porter of the American Health Care Association urges legal reforms to attract qualified caregivers. While some warn of economic shocks, others believe the market will adapt—and American citizens will proudly fill these vital roles with the right incentives.

Today, America’s seniors are facing a demographic tidal wave. The Population Reference Bureau reports that by 2050, there will be 82 million Americans over the age of 65. Demand for long-term care is soaring. Real solutions—not open borders—are urgently needed.

Thanks to President Trump’s immigration reforms, America has a chance to rebuild a stronger, more lawful, and more prosperous caregiving system.

The Real Cost of Open Borders

While liberal organizations warn of GDP losses and caregiving gaps, the price of open borders—crime, social chaos, overwhelmed services—is far higher. Protecting our seniors means protecting the integrity of our immigration system.

Every day, hardworking Americans see the costs firsthand. From rising health care costs to longer Medicaid waitlists, the caregiving system’s challenges stem from years of unsustainable policies—not President Trump’s efforts to restore sanity and order.

Moving Forward: Legal Immigration Done Right

President Trump’s common-sense approach offers a brighter future for all generations. Secure borders, higher wages for Americans, and smart pathways for legal, vetted caregivers are the real solutions.

The caregiving industry must adapt, and America must prioritize its citizens—especially the seniors who built this great nation.

Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, we are finally on the path to a caregiving system that honors our elderly with dignity, safety, and respect—without sacrificing our nation’s sovereignty.
