President Donald Trump delivered a powerful Thanksgiving message that is already making waves across the national security world, issuing a direct warning to Venezuela’s criminal networks and pledging a dramatic escalation in America’s fight against deadly drug trafficking. Speaking to U.S. service members, Trump praised the Air Force’s 7th Bomb Wing at in Abilene, Texas, crediting their relentless pressure for crippling major drug pipelines before they ever reach American shores.
Trump told the troops that the United States has already shut down the vast majority of Venezuelan smuggling attempts by sea — a key route used by violent cartels and foreign gangs. According to Trump, the traffickers have become so desperate that they are now scrambling to find new ways to infiltrate the country, even as his administration prepares to clamp down harder than ever.
“In the past few weeks, you’ve been working to shut down Venezuelan drug operations — and there are plenty of them,” Trump told the troops. “You’ve likely noticed that far fewer smugglers are attempting to come in by sea now.” He cautioned that these cartels are behind the deaths of “hundreds of thousands of Americans each year” because of the dangerous drugs they funnel into the United States.
Trump emphasized that his military-led strategy has already stopped roughly 85% of maritime trafficking attempts, a massive national security achievement as overdoses remain one of the top threats to American families. But Trump made clear that the next phase of the operation will be even more aggressive.
“You’ve likely seen that smugglers have stopped using the sea, and we’re preparing to cut them off on land as well,” Trump said. “Land routes are even simpler to shut down — and that effort begins very soon.”
Then Trump delivered his trademark message — sharp, unmistakable, and to the point: “Our message to them is simple: stop sending deadly poison into the United States.”
The comments came just weeks after Trump said he would not rule out deploying U.S. ground troops to Venezuela if necessary to dismantle the criminal networks tied to the country’s socialist leadership. Asked on Nov. 17 whether troops were off the table, Trump responded:
“No, I don’t rule out anything.”
Since early September, Trump’s administration has unleashed a series of high-impact military strikes across the Eastern Pacific and the Caribbean, destroying vessels linked to Venezuela’s notorious Tren de Aragua gang and Colombia’s ELN terrorist organization. These criminal groups have become central players in the international drug pipeline, pushing fentanyl, cocaine, and synthetic poisons toward American neighborhoods. Under Trump’s direction, U.S. forces have eliminated at least 21 drug-smuggling boats, sending a clear message that the United States is done tolerating foreign cartels.
For millions of Americans who have watched their communities ravaged by addiction, overdose deaths, and cartel-driven violence, Trump’s new warning represents something they have been demanding for years: a leader willing to confront America’s enemies boldly, unapologetically, and without hesitation. Trump’s approach places the safety of American families first and signals that the era of weak border enforcement is over.
As the situation intensifies, one thing is clear: America is no longer standing by while dangerous criminal organizations exploit open borders and flood the country with lethal drugs. Under Trump’s leadership, the crackdown is stronger, wider, and more decisive than ever before.
