A new shock poll shows President Donald Trump’s approval rating among young voters has fallen off a cliff, marking one of the sharpest declines since his return to the White House. But while the media rushes to spin the story, older voters remain firmly in Trump’s corner.
According to the Economist/YouGov survey, only 20% of Americans under 30 approve of Trump’s job performance, while 75% disapprove — a stunning 63-point collapse since February. Back then, nearly half of young voters supported the president’s leadership.
Trump’s overall approval sits at 39%, compared to 58% disapproval — his lowest score since his second term began. Despite the gloomy headlines, Trump still maintains strong support among older, working-class Americans who credit him for reviving the economy, protecting the border, and restoring strength abroad.
During the 2024 election, Trump defied the odds, winning back the White House by razor-thin margins and cutting deeply into Democrat strongholds. Many younger voters stayed home, frustrated with the radical left’s focus on social issues over jobs, safety, and affordability.
Now, Democrats and their media allies are celebrating what they call “Trump’s decline” among Gen Z — yet few mention that older, high-turnout voters are sticking with him in record numbers. For most Americans over 50, Trump still represents economic security, strong borders, and patriotic leadership — values that remain timeless.
Political analysts say the president’s challenge isn’t rebuilding his base, but winning back a generation raised on liberal narratives. Even so, history shows that when the economy is strong and America feels safer, young voters eventually come around.
As the nation heads toward the 2026 midterms, one thing is clear: Trump’s movement remains powerful, and while the youth vote may waver, the backbone of the country — older Americans — still believe in his America First vision.
