Trump is refusing to comply about this one thing.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, along with several other Republicans, is challenging former President Donald Trump’s stance of not endorsing a loyalty pledge to support the 2024 GOP nominee against President Joe Biden.
According to Newsmax, Kemp expressed his viewpoint on X, a platform formerly known as Twitter, stating, “Every potential Republican presidential candidate would be a preferable choice to Joe Biden. Any contender who refrains from committing to back the eventual nominee is prioritizing personal ambitions over the nation’s future. The significance of 2024 transcends mere political maneuvers.”
In an interview with Newsmax host Eric Bolling, Trump explained his refusal to sign the pledge, citing reservations about certain individuals included in the list. He remarked, “They’re asking you to make a pledge, yet I can readily identify three or four individuals I wouldn’t endorse for the presidency. This immediately raises an issue.”
The act of endorsing this commitment is mandatory for prospective candidates eyeing the 2024 presidency and wishing to participate in the inaugural presidential debate scheduled for later this month.
A recent poll conducted by DailyMail.com revealed that two-thirds of Iowa Republicans hold differing opinions from Trump’s standpoint. Conversely, only 15% of the surveyed 600 Republicans in the state aligned themselves with Trump’s perspective.
