White House Goes To Extreme Length To Defend Biden

Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, drew the White House’s notice on Wednesday when he disclosed that in 2019, financial transfers originating from China were directed to the residence of the former Vice President, Joe Biden, located in Delaware.

According to Newsmax, White House legal counsel spokesperson Ian Sams issued a statement on Wednesday criticizing certain far-right House Republicans for promoting unsubstantiated insinuations and conspiracy theories. Sams contended that these claims lacked any substantiated evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden, characterizing them instead as discredited personal attacks on the President and his family. He characterized these efforts as a regrettable attempt to divert attention from the perceived ineffectiveness of these House Republicans in governing, a situation that is allegedly pushing the nation closer to a potentially harmful government shutdown. The statement was provided to Newsmax’s senior White House correspondent, James Rosen.

Sams’ statement did not address the specifics of Comer’s Tuesday news release but instead reframed it to criticize the political opposition and assert that House Republicans bear responsibility for the impending government shutdown.

Sams elaborated on the analogy via a tweet on Wednesday, suggesting that it’s akin to someone arguing that if an individual stayed at their parents’ residence during the pandemic, used that address as their official work location, and received a paycheck, it would imply that their parents were also employed by the same employer.

“This is the level to which extreme House Republicans have descended.”

According to a statement released by Comer on Tuesday, he stated that while bank records are generally considered reliable, he alleged that President Joe Biden had been untruthful. Comer pointed to an instance from 2020 when Joe Biden assured the American people that his family had never received funds from China. Comer asserted that earlier this year, evidence had been presented to contradict this claim. Furthermore, Comer claimed that recent revelations indicated that two financial transfers from Beijing had designated Joe Biden’s Wilmington residence as the recipient address during his presidential campaign.

Comer stated, “During Joe Biden’s tenure as vice president, he engaged in telephone conversations and had meetings over coffee with Jonathan Li in Beijing. Additionally, he composed a letter of recommendation for Li’s children when they were applying to college.”

Comer further emphasized, “The utilization of his public office by Joe Biden to benefit his family financially poses a significant concern for our national security. The question arises: how did the Bidens employ the funds they received from Beijing? The American people are calling for and deserve a thorough investigation into the alleged corruption involving President Biden and his family. The Oversight Committee, in conjunction with the Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees, remains committed to tracing the evidence and financial transactions to ensure transparency and accountability.”
