This Thanksgiving, tech billionaire Elon Musk joined President-elect Donald Trump and his family at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, marking another moment of collaboration between the two high-profile figures. A video posted to X (formerly Twitter), the social media platform Musk owns, showed him sitting at the table with Trump, his wife Melania, and their son Barron. The scene was accompanied by the upbeat tunes of “YMCA” by the Village People, a song that has become a signature at Trump rallies.
The clip quickly went viral, racking up millions of views as it was reposted by Musk to his 206 million followers. Musk captioned the post, “Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!” The video received another surge of attention, with over 26 million additional views by Friday morning.
“YMCA,” often seen as a gay anthem, has become a regular feature at Trump’s rallies, where it’s played while the crowd cheers and Trump himself performs his signature fist-pumping dance moves. This tradition was carried over to the Thanksgiving gathering, providing a fun and festive backdrop to the occasion.
Musk, who leads Tesla, SpaceX, and X, has been making waves in conservative circles lately, especially in his growing connection with Trump. Musk, who spent Election Day at Mar-a-Lago and has been spotted frequently at the resort since Trump’s election victory, appears to be strengthening his ties with the former president. Reports suggest Musk even participated in a phone call with Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, signaling his increasing influence in political matters.
Trump has also tapped Musk’s business acumen to help streamline the federal government. He recently announced Musk’s role, alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, in a new initiative to reduce government waste and bureaucracy. Musk’s willingness to step into the political fray has only furthered his reputation as a significant player in the GOP’s future.
The Trumps have long made Mar-a-Lago their holiday headquarters, with President Trump typically spending Thanksgiving there unless he’s traveling for diplomatic or military reasons. This year, Trump sent out a Thanksgiving message on Truth Social, in which he took aim at his political adversaries and reaffirmed his commitment to “Making America Great Again.”
He wrote, “Happy Thanksgiving to all—including the Radical Left Lunatics who have tried to tear our country apart. They’ve failed miserably and will continue to fail because their ideas are fundamentally flawed. The great people of our nation just gave a landslide victory to those who want to restore American greatness!”
With Musk’s increasing involvement in Trump’s orbit, it seems clear that this partnership will only grow stronger as they look to reshape America’s future together.
