Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. sparked widespread attention this week after making candid remarks about President Donald Trump’s eating habits during a recent podcast interview.
Appearing on The Katie Miller Podcast, Kennedy was asked which member of the administration had the most unusual diet. His answer came quickly — and drew laughter.
“The president,” Kennedy replied.
Kennedy joked that Trump is well known for enjoying fast food, particularly McDonald’s, along with caffeine and Diet Coke, especially while traveling. Despite those habits, Kennedy expressed amazement at Trump’s energy and stamina.
“He eats food most people wouldn’t recommend,” Kennedy said with a laugh, “yet he’s one of the most energetic people I’ve ever met.”
A Different Diet Behind Closed Doors
Kennedy was careful to clarify that Trump’s everyday diet is not nearly as unhealthy as it may appear during campaign travel. When at the White House or Mar-a-Lago, the president typically eats more traditional, well-prepared meals.
According to Kennedy, traveling alongside Trump can give the impression that he lives entirely on fast food. In reality, Kennedy said, those meals are largely a byproduct of nonstop schedules and limited options on the road.
Even so, Kennedy noted that Trump consistently outworks and outpaces colleagues decades younger — a point many supporters say is visible during long public appearances and demanding travel schedules.
White House Responds
A White House spokesperson reinforced Kennedy’s comments in a statement to Fox News Digital, pointing to Trump’s recent physical examinations and active lifestyle.
“President Trump’s energy levels and physical performance speak for themselves,” the spokesperson said, citing medical evaluations and the president’s continued success on the golf course.
Campaign Food and Media Scrutiny
Kennedy has previously commented on the challenges of eating well during political campaigns, noting that fast food is often the only option available during long travel days.
Trump’s health has drawn increased media attention during his second term, particularly following an October visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The White House later clarified that the visit involved routine imaging and that the president remains in strong condition.
Earlier this year, Trump’s physician stated that the president “remains in exceptional health,” echoing prior assessments.
Age, Records, and Resilience
Media scrutiny of Trump’s age has intensified since he became the oldest president ever elected, winning his second term at age 78. The issue gained added attention after former President Joe Biden exited the 2024 race amid widespread concerns about fitness for office.
According to the New York Times, Trump weighed 244 pounds in 2020. His most recent medical report lists his weight at 224 pounds — a notable reduction.
Trump also told the Wall Street Journal that he follows preventive health routines recommended by his doctors.
Bottom Line
Despite jokes about fast food, Trump’s doctors, staff, and supporters point to one consistent reality: high energy, mental sharpness, and an endurance level that continues to surprise critics.
For many Americans, especially older voters, the takeaway is simple — results matter more than menu choices.
