President Trump is fighting back — and this time, the battlefield is network television.
Former President Donald Trump blasted CBS News and its flagship show 60 Minutes after it received an Emmy nomination for an interview he says was edited to mislead voters during the 2024 election. The now-infamous segment featuring Kamala Harris is at the center of Trump’s $20 billion lawsuit, alleging election interference and media fraud.
“This isn’t journalism — it’s propaganda,” Trump declared on Truth Social.
Emmy Nod for ‘Fake News’ Interview Sparks Outrage
The segment received a nomination for “Outstanding Edited Interview,” infuriating critics who say the broadcast manipulated Harris’s answers. Trump’s legal team alleges CBS aired two different responses to the same question — on different nights — crafting the illusion of coherence during a key election moment.
“A total slap in the face to truth and real journalism,” Trump wrote. “Fake News like this is why Americans have zero trust in the media.”
The timing of the interview — just days before voters went to the polls — has raised serious concerns about bias, misinformation, and coordinated interference.
Lawsuit Unfolds as CBS Parent Faces Pressure
Trump’s high-profile lawsuit comes as CBS’s parent company, Paramount Global, is seeking regulatory approval for a massive merger with Skydance Media. That merger now faces headwinds, as the lawsuit and potential FCC scrutiny threaten to derail the deal.
Behind closed doors, insiders say Paramount executives are worried that Trump’s administration may block the merger unless accountability is enforced.
“There’s no question the Trump White House is watching this closely,” said a source familiar with the case.
Corporate Turmoil and Resignations at CBS
Amid the legal firestorm, 60 Minutes executive producer Bill Owens suddenly resigned, citing concerns over editorial interference. According to anchor Scott Pelley, Paramount had begun “supervising content” in ways that alarmed veteran journalists.
“Bill felt he no longer had the editorial independence that honest journalism requires,” Pelley admitted on air.
The move confirms what many Americans already suspect — that corporate media giants are prioritizing politics and profits over the truth.
Media Accountability or Political Targeting?
While liberal lawmakers like Bernie Sanders have urged CBS not to settle with Trump, conservative Americans see the lawsuit as a long-overdue effort to hold biased media organizations accountable.
With billions of dollars at stake and the credibility of the media on trial, Trump’s legal battle is shaping up to be about more than just one interview — it’s a reckoning for mainstream media corruption.
