Legal expert Alan Dershowitz says he’s certain President Donald Trump’s politically charged conviction in the New York hush money case will be reversed on appeal. Appearing on Newsmax’s The Record with Greta Van Susteren, Dershowitz broke down what he believes is a clear path to victory for Trump.
“This is the weakest case in my 60 years of legal experience,” Dershowitz declared. “It will not stand.”
Trump Prepares Legal Counterattack with Top Law Firm
Despite no formal sentence being issued, Trump isn’t waiting around. He’s hired the powerhouse legal team at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP—one of the most respected firms in the country—to file the appeal.
“The case is going to be appealed,” Dershowitz confirmed. “He’s bringing in the big guns.”
The Manhattan judge, Juan Merchan, issued an unusual ‘unconditional discharge’—meaning no jail time, no fine, and no probation. But that decision opened the door for a full appellate review.
A Legal Battle All the Way to the Supreme Court?
Dershowitz explained that Trump’s legal team will first take the case to New York’s appellate division, then likely to the Court of Appeals, and possibly all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
While some legal scholars may question whether an appeal can proceed without a formal sentence, Dershowitz believes that’s no obstacle.
“There’s a schedule now,” he said. “There will be an appeal.”
Weaponized Justice? Legal Scholars Push Back
Dershowitz, a lifelong liberal who has defended both Republican and Democrat presidents, warned Americans that this case represents a dangerous precedent.
“In all my years, I’ve never seen a prosecution as weak, as politically motivated, or as dangerous to due process as this one.”
Final Verdict: Trump’s Conviction Won’t Stick
Dershowitz predicts that Trump’s conviction will be tossed.
“I think the appellate court will reverse this. And if not, a higher court will,” he said confidently.
As 2024 shapes up to be one of the most consequential elections in American history, Trump continues to battle both on the campaign trail and in the courtroom—and it looks like he’s winning on both fronts.
