CNN’s own senior data analyst sounded the alarm this week after a stunning new poll revealed a disturbing truth: Democrats are abandoning their pride in America—just as President Donald Trump reclaims his seat in the Oval Office.
On Friday, CNN’s Harry Enten cited fresh Gallup data showing that only 36% of Democrats in 2025 say they are “extremely” or “very” proud to be American. That’s less than half the number from 2015, when pride among Democrats was at 80%—a time before Trump reshaped the political landscape with his bold, pro-America vision.
“That number has plummeted,” Enten admitted. “It’s a low not seen in decades.”
Younger Democrats Lead the Collapse
Enten also highlighted a growing crisis among younger liberal voters. Among Americans born after 1997—often referred to as Generation Z—just 24% say they are proud to be American. Even more alarming, nearly 1 in 3 openly admit they have “little” or “no” pride in the country at all.
“I just never thought I’d see these numbers based on where we were ten years ago,” Enten said on CNN.
This growing disillusionment on the Left stands in stark contrast to Republican voters, who have remained firm in their patriotism.
Republicans Still Proud to Be American
While liberal pride in the U.S. has collapsed, Republicans have held strong. Back in 2015, under President Obama, 90% of Republicans said they were “extremely” or “very” proud to be American. Fast forward to 2025, with President Trump back in office, that number has grown to 92%.
“Republicans are still proud of this country. Democrats, especially young Democrats, are not,” Enten stated.
This patriotic divide is more than just numbers—it reflects a fundamental difference in values. As the Left drifts further from faith, freedom, and traditional American ideals, Trump supporters remain anchored in the Constitution, God, and country.
