Trump Knocks Some Sense Into Buttigieg

President Donald Trump is calling out the Biden administration’s failure to keep America’s skies safe and its airports running smoothly.

In a scathing Truth Social post on Thursday, Trump held Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg directly responsible for the growing chaos at U.S. airports:

“America’s air traffic mess is just another disaster under Biden’s failed leadership—this time with an unqualified political lightweight like Pete B. in charge. I’ll clean it up. Count on it!”

Flight Delays Soar as FAA Scrambles

Hundreds of flights have been delayed or canceled at Newark Liberty International Airport in recent days. Federal officials say the disruptions stem from a communications breakdown at Philadelphia’s air traffic control center, a critical facility guiding flights in and out of New Jersey.

This brief failure on April 28 reportedly caused controllers to lose contact with aircraft for up to 30 seconds—an eternity in air traffic management. Since then, Newark has been overwhelmed with delays, cancellations, and passenger complaints.

Duffy Slams Buttigieg: “More Focused on Woke Policies Than Safety”

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, now overseeing the crisis response, took aim at his predecessor:

“Buttigieg was busy chairing equity councils and pushing gender identity studies instead of fixing failing runways and outdated air traffic systems,” he posted on X.

Duffy pointed to Buttigieg’s past initiatives like Transit Equity Day, bike path funding, and attempts to combat “racist roads” as evidence of misplaced priorities.

“This is the nonsense that distracted him while passengers sat on tarmacs and safety systems crumbled.”

National Air Travel in Crisis

The situation in Newark is not isolated. Air traffic control staffing shortages, outdated radar systems, and decaying airport infrastructure are creating nationwide delays and flight risks.

In one of the year’s worst tragedies, a Black Hawk military helicopter collided midair with a commercial jet near Washington, D.C., resulting in 67 deaths—a devastating reminder of the dangers when aviation safety is ignored.

FAA Scrambles to Repair Damage

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is now racing to:

  • Hire over 2,000 new air traffic controllers
  • Offer retention bonuses to experienced staff
  • Upgrade obsolete technology faster than originally planned

Sean Duffy announced a “Delay Reduction Meeting” to bring major airlines together and chart a path forward—aimed at protecting American travelers from further government failure.

Buttigieg Blames Everyone Else

Despite mounting criticism, Buttigieg has yet to take responsibility. During an appearance on MSNBC, he admitted the situation was a “major concern” but offered few concrete solutions.

Worse, instead of addressing airline passengers’ growing anger, Buttigieg took to social media to attack President Trump, writing:

“Donald Trump is the most unpopular 100-day-mark president in modern American history.”

Critics say this shows just how out of touch the Biden team really is.

Conservative Leaders Say It’s Time to Get Serious About Safety

Governor Phil Murphy (D-NJ) finally acknowledged what Americans have been experiencing firsthand: “Decades of underinvestment in air traffic infrastructure have left our skies vulnerable.”

Meanwhile, conservatives are calling for real leadership. With Trump pledging to overhaul the transportation system and restore safety and order, many voters are turning to him as the only one with a proven record of action.
