Former President Donald Trump once again criticized Judge Arthur Engoron, the judge overseeing his civil fraud trial, and expressed his desire for his children to be left out of the legal proceedings.
According to Newsmax, in response to Judge Engoron’s recent decision to postpone Ivanka Trump’s testimony to ensure a thorough examination, Trump took to Truth Social early on Wednesday morning to voice his grievances. He described the trial as “rigged” and claimed it was initiated by New York State Attorney General Letitia James, whom he accused of bias, along with Judge Engoron, whom he labeled as a “developer-hating judge.”
Trump emphasized that Michael Cohen, who is a central figure in the case, had admitted to lying during his testimony, particularly regarding allegations that Trump or the Trump Organization had instructed him to inflate financial statements. The former president argued that based on this admission alone, the case should be dismissed. Furthermore, Trump contended that the financial statements’ values were conservative, Mar-a-Lago was worth more than $18,000,000, there was a disclaimer clause on the statements, and all financial obligations to banks and insurance companies were met without defaults. Trump claimed there were no victims in the case except for himself and urged Judge Engoron to leave his children out of the matter, calling the judge a disgrace to the legal profession.
Donald Trump Jr. was scheduled to testify on Wednesday, and Eric Trump was expected to take the stand on Thursday.
Trump continued to criticize Judge Engoron, describing him as a “political hack” who had ruled against him from the outset and accusing him of doing the “dirty work” for the Democratic Party. Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with not being given the option of a jury and claimed that the case should never have been brought to trial in the first place. He alleged that Judge Engoron had fought against their efforts and imposed sanctions and fines without reason, refusing to grant even a single-day delay. Trump insisted that there was no fraud in his financial statements and accused the attorney general of collaborating with a corrupt campaign that aimed to target him. He criticized the judge’s decisions and rulings and referred to the trial as a “witch hunt” and “election interference.”
Trump mentioned that they had won a significant appeal against Judge Engoron, which removed a substantial portion of the case, but the judge refused to acknowledge that decision. He accused the judge of being frequently overturned and expressed his disbelief at the court’s handling of the case. Despite Cohen’s admission of falsehoods, Trump felt the judge had acted indifferently and subsequently imposed a “ridiculous” gag order on him, which he planned to appeal. He described the judicial system as being in disarray and Judge Engoron as “crazy,” “unhinged,” and “dangerous.”
