Trump Holding Private Dinner With Who?

President Donald Trump is set to host an exclusive dinner for invited Republican senators and their spouses at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida this Friday. The gathering, which will take place ahead of the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s (NRSC) winter meeting, is expected to be a key moment for GOP leaders as they discuss strategy for the upcoming election cycles.

The senators, who will already be in town for the NRSC’s annual gathering at The Breakers in Palm Beach, just five miles away from Mar-a-Lago, will take advantage of the private dinner to further solidify their political alliances and exchange ideas with the former president. The meeting is being organized by the Republican National Committee (RNC), which continues to position itself as a major force for the GOP moving forward.

Under the leadership of Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), the NRSC has seen remarkable success, having raised $8.5 million in January alone, breaking fundraising records. This is crucial for the committee as it works to pay down $24 million in debt left over from the 2024 election cycle. The focus of these meetings will be to ensure Republicans are well-prepared for the 2026 midterms, with key races already on the horizon.

RNC Chair Michael Whatley recently emphasized that the 2026 midterms effectively began the day after Trump’s inauguration. As Republicans work to hold on to critical Senate seats in places like Maine and North Carolina, they are also eyeing opportunities to pick up seats, including in Michigan, where Democrat Sen. Gary Peters has decided not to seek re-election.

Friday’s dinner is just the latest example of Mar-a-Lago becoming a hub for the GOP as it works to maintain and expand its influence across the country.
