In the latest YouGov poll released on Wednesday, the hypothetical 2024 presidential rematch between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden shows a significant shift. Both candidates are now tied at 44% each, indicating Trump’s growing strength in this matchup.
One notable trend is Trump’s appeal among registered voters aged 45-64, where he leads Biden by a substantial 15-point margin (51% to 36%). Additionally, Trump holds a 12-point advantage over Biden when it comes to perceptions of fitness for the presidency. A noteworthy 77% of respondents believe that Biden’s age poses at least some concern for his chances of re-election, with 52% viewing it as a “big problem.”
This poll marks a notable shift from the previous month when Biden had a 6-point lead. As reported by Yahoo News, Trump seems to be gaining momentum.
Trump not only holds his ground against the incumbent president but also dominates the Republican primary polling with a commanding 46-point lead over Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis and the rest of the field. While Trump and Biden are tied, DeSantis trails by a slight margin of 3 points, which falls just outside the margin of error.

- 9% of respondents were undecided, and 2% stated they would not vote.
In a two-candidate race between Trump and DeSantis, registered voters favored Trump by a substantial margin of 43 points, with 65% supporting Trump and 22% supporting DeSantis.
Trump’s support within the GOP primary is particularly strong among self-described Hispanic voters, with 71% backing him. In a head-to-head matchup against DeSantis, Trump commands an even higher 80% support among Hispanic voters.
The YouGov poll was conducted with a sample of 1,636 U.S. adults from September 14-18, which included 1,097 registered voters and 470 registered Republicans and independents leaning Republican.
