Trump Discovers New Food Stamp Scandal

A major new food stamp scandal has erupted, and it’s raising serious questions about how Democrat-led states are handling taxpayer dollars under President Joe Biden. Iowa Republican Senator Joni Ernst has uncovered a massive misuse of SNAP benefits, exposing a loophole that is funneling hundreds of millions of dollars into fast-food drive-thru windows instead of putting real nutrition on American tables.

Ernst didn’t hold back, saying: “The ‘N’ in SNAP stands for nutrition — not nuggets with a side of fries.” She added that more than $250 million per year is being spent at fast-food chains because of Biden-era rule expansions in Democrat-controlled states. “Taxpayers are not lovin’ it,” she said, warning that the system is being abused at a scale Americans were never told about.

Democrat States Approving Fast-Food Spending

Sen. Ernst’s review found over $524 million in SNAP purchases at fast-food restaurants across nine states, all using policies approved by Democrat administrators. These states used a regulatory loophole to expand the Restaurant Meals Program, originally intended only for the homeless, disabled, or elderly.

Now, according to Ernst, the Biden administration has “massively expanded” the list of restaurants allowed to accept EBT cards, turning food stamps into fast-food spending accounts. Critics say this expands government dependency, drains taxpayer funds, and directly undermines SNAP’s core mission.

California Is the Epicenter of SNAP Fast-Food Spending

The biggest abuser? California, the flagship of Democrat governance.

Ernst reports that in just the last two years, California processed over $475 million in SNAP-funded restaurant purchases. Most of that spending took place at major fast-food chains. Conservative analysts say this is yet another example of California turning federal programs into bloated welfare pipelines.

The senator says this level of spending “defies the entire purpose of SNAP,” which was created to give struggling Americans nutritional support — not endless access to fast-food menus.

Ernst Unveils the McSCUSE ME Act

To crack down on the expanding misuse, Ernst is rolling out a new proposal called the McStopping restaurants from Using SNAP EBT to Make Entrees (McSCUSE ME) Act. Its mission is straightforward:

➡️ restore SNAP to its original purpose
➡️ cut off fast-food chains from siphoning SNAP dollars
➡️ close Biden-era loopholes that encourage fraud and overspending

Ernst says government assistance should be a temporary lifeline, not a permanent fast-food subsidy at taxpayer expense.

Experts Sound the Alarm on SNAP Fraud

Dr. Michael Savage, host of Newsmax’s Savage Nation, says SNAP fraud under the Biden administration is “out of control.” He warns that tens of billions of dollars are now lost each year through waste, abuse, lax enforcement, and political negligence.

Savage says this latest revelation confirms what conservatives have been warning about for years: that Democrats have turned welfare programs into “vote-buying machines,” ignoring the damage to taxpayers and the national debt.

Why This Scandal Matters to American Taxpayers

At a time when Americans are paying more for groceries, gas, energy, and everyday essentials, many retirees and working families feel abandoned while Washington pours money into expanding welfare programs.

The idea that EBT cards are being used for fast food, encouraged by Democrat-led states, only intensifies public frustration — especially as President Donald Trump pushes for stricter oversight and common-sense reforms.

For many conservatives, this scandal is a clear example of how far Biden’s Washington has strayed from fiscal responsibility and accountability.

Bottom Line

Democrat-run states have opened the door to rampant fast-food spending through SNAP, and taxpayers are footing the bill. With over half a billion dollars spent at fast-food restaurants, the system is drifting further from its original mission. Conservatives argue it’s time for serious reform — and Ernst’s findings may be the catalyst.
