President Donald Trump once again stunned the world on Tuesday morning — this time by calling for a full pardon for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, moments after the release of the final hostages held by Hamas.
Aboard Air Force One, Trump revealed that his spontaneous decision came during a standing ovation for Netanyahu in Israel’s parliament.
“I mentioned to [Netanyahu] that I hadn’t planned on bringing up a pardon, but the timing just felt right — couldn’t have been better,” Trump said with a smile. “He was getting an incredible round of applause, and once it quieted down, I said, ‘How about giving this man a pardon?’”
Trump added with trademark humor:
“If he didn’t get a good hand, I wouldn’t have done it. But it worked out. It was a little risky — but it worked.”
Trump’s Bold Move Before the Knesset
During his address before the Israeli Knesset, Trump turned directly toward Israeli President Isaac Herzog and urged him to clear Netanyahu’s name — calling the corruption allegations “nonsense.”
“Mr. President, why don’t you give him a pardon?” Trump said, adding jokingly, “Cigars and some champagne — who the hell cares?”
The remark drew laughter, cheers, and even standing applause — but also sent shockwaves through the international media.
Netanyahu’s Legal Battle and Delayed Trial
Netanyahu, who has been Israel’s longest-serving prime minister and one of its most controversial, faces bribery, fraud, and breach of trust charges dating back to 2019. He has pleaded not guilty, calling the case a political witch hunt — language that echoes Trump’s own experience with politically motivated prosecutions.
According to The Jerusalem Post, Netanyahu is expected to appear in court this week as the trial resumes after repeated delays caused by security concerns and scheduling conflicts.
Trump’s Peace Deal Brings Hostages Home
Trump’s comments came on the heels of a historic peace agreement that ended years of conflict between Israel and Hamas. The deal — brokered personally by Trump and his administration — resulted in the release of all 250 hostages and marked the end of one of the bloodiest chapters in recent Middle Eastern history.
Hamas’s brutal 2023 attack left over 1,200 Israelis dead, igniting a crisis that few believed could be resolved. Yet under Trump’s leadership, Israel achieved what the world said was impossible — peace and freedom for the captives.
On Monday, Hamas released the final 20 living hostages, prompting celebration across Israel.
“The world is seeing strength and peace at the same time — that’s what real leadership looks like,” Trump said proudly.
Conservatives Applaud Trump’s Leadership
Across social media, conservatives praised Trump’s decisive leadership and unapologetic loyalty to America’s closest ally. Many noted that under President Biden, the Middle East descended into chaos — while under Trump, stability and peace returned.
Trump’s message resonated deeply with older Americans who remember his first term as one of peace through strength — a guiding principle that continues to shape his presidency today.
