Trump Deals Major New Blow To Newsom

President Donald Trump has unleashed a new legal offensive, vowing to sue California Governor Gavin Newsom and Democrats over what he calls a blatant attempt to rig the system in their favor.

Trump Targets Newsom’s Power Grab

Speaking from the White House, Trump announced lawsuits are coming “very soon” after California’s Democrat-run legislature approved Newsom’s controversial plan to redraw the state’s congressional lines. The move, set to appear on the November ballot, could tilt elections for years.

“I think we’re going to be very successful,” Trump told reporters. “We’ll be filing it through the Department of Justice. That’s going to happen.”

Ending the “Blue Slip” Roadblock

Trump also revealed another major lawsuit is on the way—this time against the Senate’s century-old “blue slip” practice. This unwritten rule lets Democrat senators block Republican judicial and U.S. attorney nominees in their states.

“Blue slips make it impossible for me to appoint judges or U.S. attorneys,” Trump said. “It’s just an old custom Democrats exploit. It’s not law. It’s unconstitutional, and I’ll be filing suit on that soon.”

Democrats Rigging the System?

Trump warned the practice means he can only get Democrat U.S. attorneys approved in states controlled by Democrats. “That’s not democracy—it’s corruption,” he declared.

The president also blasted Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley for refusing to fight harder. Trump’s frustration boiled over after Democrats Cory Booker and Andy Kim blocked his nominee Alina Habba from serving as a federal prosecutor in New Jersey.

Trump vs. Newsom: The Battle Escalates

This clash is the latest chapter in Trump’s ongoing war with California’s left-wing governor. Trump says Newsom and his allies are determined to rewrite the rules to lock in Democrat power.

“They want to control every lever of government,” Trump warned. “But we’re not going to let them.”

The Stakes Couldn’t Be Higher

For Trump supporters, the lawsuits are proof that the president is keeping his promise to fight back against corruption, defend the Constitution, and stop Democrats from stacking the deck.

“This is about saving America’s future,” Trump said. “We will not let them destroy our country.”
