Trump Cancels Upcoming Debate?

Recently, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi took a jab at former President Donald Trump, suggesting he might avoid the upcoming presidential debate due to what she called “cowardice.” This remark was made during her appearance at the Texas Tribune Festival, where she discussed a variety of topics, including her latest book, with journalist Kara Swisher.

During the event, Pelosi didn’t hold back her criticism of Trump, particularly when the topic of the upcoming ABC News Presidential Debate came up. When asked by Swisher whether she thought Trump would actually show up for the debate, Pelosi responded with a smirk, “You think he’s gonna show up?” Her comment was met with laughter and applause from the largely liberal audience.

Swisher pressed further, asking Pelosi if she agreed with former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney’s harsh criticism of Trump, which had been made at a previous Trib Fest event. Pelosi responded with a nod of approval for Cheney’s remarks, showing a clear alignment with Cheney’s sentiments.

The Trump campaign was quick to counter Pelosi’s remarks, labeling them as “fake news.” Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for Trump, stated, “Nancy Pelosi is out of touch and known for her deceit. Her attempt to discredit President Trump with baseless claims is just another example of her spreading falsehoods. While she’s busy crafting self-important titles for herself, she continues to peddle misinformation.”

The longstanding feud between Pelosi and Trump has been marked by sharp exchanges over the years. Notably, Pelosi made headlines in 2020 when she tore up her copy of Trump’s State of the Union address right after he delivered it.

As Trump prepares to face off against Kamala Harris in the debate scheduled for Tuesday night in Philadelphia, both sides are bracing for a high-stakes showdown that promises to be anything but dull.
