Republican Kevin McCarthy’s New Job

Exiting Congress at the end of this month, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, a Republican from California, has expressed his ongoing interest in playing a role within a potential Trump administration in 2025. In a recent interview on Saturday night, McCarthy reiterated his support for former President Donald Trump in the 2024 elections, anticipating him to be the GOP nominee.

Regardless of his congressional departure, McCarthy emphasized his commitment to contributing to the success of the country. He stated, “I will help whether I’m in it or whether I’m out. I want the country to be successful. I tell the president all the time, it’s about rebuilding, restoring, and renewing this country.”

Despite a tumultuous relationship with Trump, marked by McCarthy’s initial hesitation to publicly endorse Trump’s re-election bid, the two have managed to reconcile. As McCarthy concludes his tenure in Congress, he has openly declared his support for the former president, affirming, “I will support the president. I will support President Trump.”

Regarding his future plans, McCarthy has not disclosed specific details but indicated a willingness to serve in a Trump cabinet if deemed the best fit. He remarked, “In the right position, look, if I’m the best person for the job, yes.” McCarthy highlighted the collaborative efforts with President Trump on various policies during their time working together to secure the majority, underscoring the honesty that characterizes their relationship.
