Andrew Yang Joins the Conversation

In a surprising twist, former Democrat presidential candidate Andrew Yang has expressed his support for Musk’s new party. Yang, now the founder of the centrist Forward Party, confirmed to Politico that he’s been in contact with Musk and is open to helping guide the new political effort.

“I’m excited for anyone who wants to move on from the duopoly,” Yang said. “I’m happy to help give someone a sense of what the path looks like.”

Musk and Yang Challenge the Two-Party System

Both Musk and Yang have taken aim at America’s entrenched two-party system, which many voters — especially those over 50 — feel has failed to deliver on key issues like spending, accountability, and national leadership.

Yang echoed the sentiment, blasting Trump’s spending bill on Substack as “irresponsible and dehumanizing.”

Forward Party Signals Support for Musk’s Third Party

The official Forward Party account welcomed Musk’s effort, writing:

“We welcome the growing realization that the two-party system isn’t working and that the majority of Americans want more choices and more accountability.”

Yang’s party, which has merged with other left- and right-leaning independent groups, has long advocated for a post-partisan, common-sense approach to leadership — one that resonates with voters who feel abandoned by both Democrats and Republicans.

Trump Pushes Back Against Third-Party Talk

President Trump, however, is urging caution. Posting on Truth Social, Trump dismissed the viability of third parties, noting that such movements have historically failed in American politics.

“The System seems not designed for [third parties],” Trump wrote. “The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS.”

Trump himself flirted with third-party runs in 2000 and 2012 before ultimately becoming the Republican Party’s nominee in 2016 and 2020.
