Michelle Obama Takes A Swipe At Trump

In a shocking revelation, former First Lady Michelle Obama admitted that she skipped President Donald Trump’s historic second inauguration — and her reason had nothing to do with politics.

According to Obama, the decision came down to something as simple as her wardrobe.

Speaking on her podcast, IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson, she said, “It started with not having anything to wear.”

Yes, really.

Michelle Obama explained that she usually stays prepared for all major events, even funerals, by traveling with appropriate clothing. But this time, she made a deliberate choice to leave her closet empty.

“I told my team: I don’t even want a dress ready. Because it’s too easy to just say, ‘let me do the right thing,’” she said.

The Obamas released a statement before the inauguration through the Associated Press. It confirmed that former President Barack Obama would attend the January 20 event, while Michelle Obama would not.

Her absence was immediately noticeable — not only at President Trump’s inauguration but also later at former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral in January.

Naturally, speculation exploded.

Many wondered if there was more behind Michelle’s decision. Some questioned whether her marriage to Barack Obama was on the rocks. Michelle fired back, insisting the rumors were false.

“People couldn’t believe that I was simply choosing to do what was best for me,” she said. “They had to assume something was wrong with my marriage.”

Michelle Obama made it clear: her choice was about self-prioritization, not political protest or marital issues.

During her conversation with Hollywood actress Taraji P. Henson, Michelle received praise for putting her personal well-being above public expectations. Henson called women “shock absorbers” for their families and applauded Michelle for standing firm.

Michelle also shared that she is teaching her daughters, Sasha and Malia, the importance of learning to say “no” early in life — a skill she admits took her years to master.

She further swatted down the divorce rumors during a separate interview on Sophia Bush’s Work in Progress podcast earlier this month, emphasizing once again that the decision was personal, not political.

“I’m finally living my life for me,” Michelle Obama said. “Not for public approval.”

While Michelle Obama paints her decision as empowering, many conservatives see it differently. Skipping President Trump’s inauguration — a historic moment for millions of Americans — may look more like elitism and disrespect than “self-care.”

What do you think?
Was Michelle Obama’s excuse about a dress believable — or just another snub against President Trump?
