Lindsey Graham Tells Trump To Hire Who?

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has voiced strong support for Scott Bessent, a South Carolina native and former economic adviser to the Trump campaign, to be nominated as the next U.S. Treasury Secretary. Graham, who knows Bessent personally and has worked closely with him, emphasized that Bessent is highly qualified for the position, having been thoroughly vetted and possessing the necessary expertise to succeed. Both Graham and Senator Tim Scott, also from South Carolina, have a positive view of Bessent’s capabilities and character.

Bessent, who is well-regarded in financial circles, has also received praise from President Trump, who described him as one of the top minds on Wall Street. Many consider Bessent one of the top contenders for the Treasury Secretary role, with another leading candidate being Howard Lutnick, the CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald and co-chair of the Trump transition team. The competition for the position is tight, but Bessent’s qualifications and deep ties to the administration put him in a strong position.

Recently, Bessent has taken steps to demonstrate his alignment with Trump’s economic policies. He wrote an op-ed supporting the president’s plan to impose tariffs, viewing them as necessary to protect American interests and address unfair trade practices. In a separate appearance on Fox News, Bessent praised the Trump administration’s economic performance, stating that the U.S. experienced one of the best economic periods in its history under the previous administration. He further emphasized that President Trump’s policies had created an economic “golden age” for America, and that the country should continue along that successful path.

Bessent’s financial acumen and his close relationship with President Trump make him a strong candidate for Treasury Secretary, with the potential to help steer the economy in the right direction for the future.
