President Donald Trump is blasting GOP lawmakers who are dragging their feet on his One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a cornerstone of his America First economic agenda, just as his self-imposed July 4 deadline approaches.
Despite offering historic tax cuts, border security funding, and sweeping economic reforms, several House Republicans remain hesitant—citing concerns over the national debt.
“This should be an EASY YES vote for Republicans—RIDICULOUS!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social in the early hours of Thursday.
In a previous post, Trump contrasted the stakes:
“We’re talking about the biggest tax cuts ever alongside a surging economy—versus massive tax hikes and a total economic disaster. Why are Republicans stalling? MAGA patriots are fed up—and you’re losing their support!”
Senate Passes Bill with Slim Margin—House Conservatives Revolt
The Senate narrowly passed the revised bill Tuesday after Vice President JD Vance broke a 50-50 tie. The bill now returns to the House, where earlier versions had already passed—but with key changes, including a record-setting $5 trillion debt ceiling increase, fiscal hawks are revolting.
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects the 940-page package will increase the federal deficit by $2.4 trillion by 2034.
Still, supporters argue the legislation will supercharge the Trump economy, restore U.S. manufacturing, and fund priorities like military readiness and border enforcement.
Speaker Johnson Holds the Line
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), a strong Trump ally, kept the procedural vote open well past midnight.
“I’m absolutely confident we are going to land this plane,” Johnson said.
Despite his efforts, five Republicans joined all Democrats in opposition. Rep. Thomas Massie became the latest to defect, placing the bill in jeopardy given the GOP’s razor-thin majority. Any more than three Republican defections could doom the legislation.
A procedural hurdle was finally cleared around 3 a.m., but the full vote on the bill’s content still awaits.
What’s Inside Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill”
This America First tax and spending plan includes:
✅ Permanent Trump-era tax cuts for working families and small businesses
✅ SALT deduction hike from $10,000 to $40,000, helping Americans in high-tax states
✅ Billions in new funding for military strength and border security
✅ Major rollbacks in entitlement spending like Medicaid and food stamps
✅ Tax exemptions on tips, overtime, and Social Security benefits
These pro-growth, pro-family, pro-freedom measures reflect the core of Trump’s 2024 campaign promises.
Elon Musk Breaks with Trump—Threatens New Party
Billionaire Elon Musk, once a key Trump supporter, slammed the bill as “political suicide” and “utterly insane” for increasing the debt ceiling.
Musk even floated the idea of forming a third party—the America Party. Trump didn’t hold back, suggesting Musk may be the biggest government subsidy recipient “in history,” and didn’t rule out the possibility of deporting the South African-born mogul.
Left-Wing Opposition Gets Ugly
Democrats are lining up in fierce opposition.
Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) called the legislation a “bloated billionaire bonanza.”
Meanwhile, California Governor Gavin Newsom launched a personal attack on Speaker Johnson, calling him “a small, pathetic man” for supporting a bill that reins in federal welfare programs like Medicaid.
White House Defends the Plan
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt fired back on X (formerly Twitter):
“Anyone voting AGAINST the One Big Beautiful Bill is voting AGAINST: No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Overtime, No Tax on Social Security.”
With the vote looming, pressure is mounting on House Republicans to decide: Will they stand with Trump—or side with D.C. insiders?
Final Showdown Approaches
The bill’s future now rests on just a handful of Republican votes. If the One Big Beautiful Bill Act passes, it will be a major legislative victory for President Trump—and a powerful signal to voters ahead of 2026.
The American people are watching. And the MAGA base will remember who stood firm—and who folded.
