Fresh testimony from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is stirring controversy after she suggested that President Donald Trump should be questioned as part of Congress’s investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Clinton made the comments during a closed-door deposition before the House Oversight Committee, where lawmakers are reviewing millions of newly released documents connected to Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted offender.
The testimony — which was recorded and released publicly by the committee — has already sparked debate about politics, accountability, and the ongoing investigation into Epstein’s network.
Hillary Clinton Calls for Trump Deposition
During questioning from lawmakers, Clinton was asked whether she believed President Trump should be required to testify before the committee.
Her answer was direct.
Clinton said Trump would likely appear on her list of potential witnesses if she were running the investigation.
She added that she was not necessarily claiming investigators would uncover significant information but suggested that Trump’s past legal controversies could make him relevant to the inquiry.
The remarks quickly drew attention given the long-running political rivalry between Trump and the Clintons.
Trump and the Epstein Documents
President Trump, like many public figures, appears in some of the recently released Epstein documents.
However, investigators have repeatedly emphasized that being mentioned in the files does not indicate wrongdoing.
The Justice Department released more than three million pages of documents related to Epstein after President Trump signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act in 2025, legislation designed to make the records available to the public.
The document release has led to renewed scrutiny of a wide range of high-profile figures whose names appear in Epstein-related materials.
Both Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton have also appeared in various Epstein-related reports over the years. The Clintons have consistently denied any involvement in Epstein’s criminal activity.
Clinton Points to Trump’s Legal Battles
During the deposition, Hillary Clinton referenced several legal cases involving President Trump.
These included a civil lawsuit brought by columnist E. Jean Carroll, as well as a separate criminal case related to business records from the 2016 election period.
Trump has strongly denied wrongdoing in both matters and continues to challenge those rulings through the legal system.
Clinton told investigators that, in her previous career as an attorney, she often examined “patterns of conduct” when evaluating legal issues.
Trump supporters have argued that many of the cases against the president have been politically motivated attacks by opponents seeking to damage him.
Heated Moment During the Deposition
At one point in the deposition, tensions escalated when Clinton learned that photos from her testimony had been leaked.
The images were reportedly shared by Rep. Lauren Boebert, a Republican congresswoman from Colorado.
Clinton reacted angrily and warned that she might walk out of the hearing entirely if committee rules were not respected.
Others in the room reportedly responded that the photos had been taken before the official hearing began. Clinton pushed back, saying the explanation did not change the situation.
The exchange highlighted the political tensions surrounding the investigation.
Clinton Denies Any Knowledge of Epstein Crimes
Before her testimony, Hillary Clinton released a written statement making clear that she has no knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activity.
She stated that she never traveled on Epstein’s private plane, never visited his island, and does not recall ever meeting him.
Clinton also said she had no additional information that could assist investigators in their review of Epstein’s operations.
Investigation Into Epstein Network Continues
Congressional investigators are still reviewing the massive volume of records tied to Epstein and his longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
Lawmakers say the goal of the investigation is to better understand Epstein’s network of powerful contacts and determine whether any individuals helped facilitate his crimes.
With millions of documents still being examined, the investigation is expected to remain a major political issue in Washington.
And with the names of high-profile political figures continuing to surface in the files, the controversy surrounding Epstein’s connections is unlikely to fade anytime soon.
