Former Vice President Dick Cheney, who served alongside President George W. This declaration came shortly after his daughter, former Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), revealed in Texas that her father would be casting his vote for Harris.

In his statement, Dick Cheney emphasized the importance of defending the Constitution, transcending party lines. He criticized former President Donald Trump, labeling him as the greatest threat to the republic in its history. Cheney accused Trump of attempting to undermine the last election through deceit and violence to cling to power after losing. He underscored his belief that Trump should never again hold power.

Cheney’s comments reflect his stance that Americans have a patriotic duty to prioritize the Constitution over partisan interests. “Our country demands that we put our nation above partisan politics to safeguard our foundational principles,” Cheney declared. “That’s why I am supporting Vice President Kamala Harris.”

This endorsement comes as Liz Cheney, who served on the House select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol attack, also announced her intention to vote for Harris despite her conservative credentials. Liz Cheney, a vocal critic of Trump and one of the ten Republicans who voted to impeach him, shared her decision during an event at the Texas Tribune Festival. She has maintained her stance on prioritizing constitutional integrity over party loyalty.

In a prior election cycle, Dick Cheney had also expressed his disapproval of Trump, labeling him as a “coward” in a campaign ad, accusing him of attempting to steal the election with falsehoods and violence. Liz Cheney echoed similar sentiments, asserting that Trump’s actions pose a grave threat to the nation’s democratic principles.

In response to these developments, a Trump campaign spokesperson dismissed Liz Cheney’s significance, stating, “Who’s Liz Cheney?”
