Democrats Kick Biden To The Curb

Democratic Representative Marcy Kaptur seems to be altering her approach as she campaigns for re-election in Ohio’s 9th Congressional District, a seat now considered highly competitive. Previously, Kaptur showed strong support for President Joe Biden, even making statements about her eagerness to work closely with him. However, as the re-election race heats up, Kaptur’s public stance appears to be shifting, distancing herself from the Biden administration’s policies.

This shift has not gone unnoticed. The Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), a prominent Republican SuperPAC, has launched a dedicated website to showcase the evolution of Kaptur’s statements. In a video clip from October 2020, Kaptur enthusiastically declared her intention to support not just Biden but also Vice President Kamala Harris. “It will be my honor to not just vote for Joe Biden, but to work for him and Sen. Kamala Harris,” Kaptur said in the video.

Fast forward to August 2024, and Kaptur’s rhetoric has notably changed. With Biden having exited the presidential race, Kaptur now asserts, “I don’t work for Donald Trump or Joe Biden,” indicating a clear effort to separate herself from the current administration’s record.

The CLF has also launched a substantial ad campaign to highlight this change in Kaptur’s stance. This ad, which aired during the Democratic National Convention, emphasizes the disparity between Kaptur’s past endorsements and her present attempts to distance herself from Biden’s presidency.

Courtney Parella, a spokeswoman for CLF, remarked to Fox News Digital, “Marcy Kaptur knows that the Biden-Harris administration has not served Ohioans well, which is why she’s trying to make voters forget her previous alignment. However, voters remember Kaptur’s own words; she has been working for Biden and Harris, not for the people of Ohio.”

As the election approaches, Kaptur’s attempt to pivot from her past endorsements of Biden reflects a broader strategy to align more closely with the interests of her constituents amid a challenging political climate.
