Democrat Mayor Spreads False Trump Rumor

Oakland’s far-left Mayor Barbara Lee is once again defending her failing city—this time by accusing President Donald Trump of “fearmongering” after his tough warning on crime.

Trump Sounds Alarm, Mayor Denies Crisis

Lee, a Democrat and former congresswoman, went on NewsNation to insist her city is improving. “The truth is, our crime rate is coming down,” she claimed. “Do we have more work to do? Absolutely, yes, but this doesn’t make any sense.”

But Trump has pointed to Oakland as one of many Democrat-run cities spiraling into lawlessness. His administration has already federalized police in Washington, D.C. to combat rising violence—and Oakland could be next.

Lee Accuses Trump of “Militarizing” Cities

Lee pushed back hard, calling Trump’s comments “fearmongering” and “unconstitutional.” She even revealed the city is working with lawyers to prepare if Trump sends in the National Guard to restore order.

“The president is trying to distract from his own difficulties,” Lee said, repeating Democrat talking points instead of addressing the real crisis facing families on Oakland’s streets.

The Numbers Don’t Match Reality

Lee claimed crime is down—pointing to a reported 29% overall drop, with homicides down 24% and robberies and burglaries down 46%. But frustrated residents tell a different story. Families and small businesses are fleeing Oakland due to violent crime, homelessness, and open-air drug markets. Many argue the “official statistics” don’t reflect everyday life in the Bay Area.

Trump: Restore Law and Order

President Trump has made law and order a cornerstone of his second term, vowing to take action when Democrat mayors fail. His supporters argue that restoring safety in cities like Oakland is not just a political fight—it’s about protecting American families who are being abandoned by progressive leaders.
