Boebert Under Police Investigation

An ongoing investigation is underway into an incident involving Representative Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) and her former husband, Jayson Boebert, that occurred at Miner’s Claim restaurant in Silt, Colo., on Saturday night. Silt Police Chief Mike Kite confirmed the investigation to various news outlets, including The Denver Post, The Washington Post, and The Denver Gazette. While Kite did not disclose specific details, he acknowledged the congresswoman and her former husband’s involvement, with The Daily Beast being the first to report on a physical altercation.

The Silt Police Chief assured that the case would be treated like any other, emphasizing a review of surveillance footage. Boebert had filed for divorce in 2023, finalizing the process a few months later, after nearly 18 years of marriage and four children together.

This incident is not Boebert’s first encounter with law enforcement making headlines. In September, she was escorted out of a performance of “Beetlejuice” at the Denver Performing Arts Center due to alleged disruptive behavior reported by fellow patrons.

Boebert’s decision not to seek reelection in Colorado’s Third Congressional District but rather to run for the more conservative Fourth Congressional District came in late December 2023. She opted for this move to avoid a challenging rematch with Democratic opponent Adam Frisch, who had already announced his candidacy for her seat. Boebert reflected on her challenging personal year, marked by her divorce, in a video announcing her intention to run for the neighboring district. Despite acknowledging personal mistakes, she expressed gratitude for the support she received during the tumultuous times from constituents and the broader American public.
